Using Cellphones in Medical Abortion

Cell-Life is partnering with UCT on a WHO-funded study to investigate whether cellphones can be used to reduce the need for the follow-up appointment that is currently in the protocol for medical abortion provision. SMSs will coach women through the process, and remind them about family planning. They will also be encouraged to use a self-assessment questionnaire on their phones, to see if the medication was effective. Lastly they will be given access to comprehensive family planning information via their cellphones.
