Contract position: mHealth Project Coordinator


Cell-Life is looking for a mobile health (mHealth) Project Coordinator, based at its offices in Cape Town. The position will involve running some of Cell-Life’s mHealth health services in health promotion and maternal health.  Areas of work will include:

  • Project planning and reporting
  • Conceptualising, costing and setting up new mHealth services, particularly ones that use communication with people/patients to improve health outcomes
  • Writing content
  • Piloting and evaluating mHealth services
  • Partnership development, including with other NGOs and government.
  • Marketing mhealth services.

The position requires a range of skills and experience:

  • Project planning and management
  • Writing and communications, particularly public health messaging
  • Conceptualising and designing communications programmes
  • Costing and tracking
  • Getting user feedback
  • Developing relationships
  • Familiarity and comfort with technology, preferably mobile.

A relevant first degree is required. We would ideally like a Masters of Public Health graduate with over 5 years’ work experience, though a self-starter with solid project management experience and writing skills could also be suitable.

The mHealth services created will use a range of platforms/technologies including SMS, USSD, voice and MXit. The position will report to Cell-Life’s mHealth Project Manager. The contract will be for a year, with the option of renewing. Experience in social and behaviour change communications and mhealth would be a strong recommendation.
